Laura Rumble - Crafter

 I'm quite excited about this layout... I have used StickerKitten's Space stamps and Wow! Embossing powder to create a space scene.  I've then painted over it with bright colours and seriously questioned my sanity.  But this is one of those 'trust the process' techniques.  When the brightly coloured sky is dry you go over with a couple of layers of black watercolour.  When you add splatters on top of that it comes to life as a starry galaxy.   I went a little further and added some glow in the dark star sequins.  It is SO COOL!!  When I turn my light off at night I see the layout glowing.  I will say it wasn't the easiest thing to photograph but I shut myself in the wardrobe to capture this photo... I think this is my favourite layout so far this year. Here's the process video:

Here are the three layouts I created using Skull and Cross Buns products that you can buy from Hochanda today... Big polka dots and the Christmas Sweater stencils are firm favourites with me. "Funny" story about the above layout... M.E. brain fog has been kicking my butt recently.  I decided that I needed to show that the 6x6 stencils can be used repeatedly to fill a 12x12 page.  I decided the best way was clear glitter paste on a white background - yes, my style but... that was never going to show on TV.  So I decided to save it I would mist over the top of it.  The paste would resist the ink.  Well, yes it would resist it but it still needed to be wiped off the paste before it dried - which I failed to do.  I ended up cleaning each section of glitter paste one by one with a wet cotton bud. Sigh! Still to come today are tags and gift wrap ideas...

After what feels like forever a 'create share create share create share' mentality I've taken some time out to just play.  I love these two layouts.  The colours, the textures, the freedom they were created with. This second layout is based on sketch 1 from Lottie Loves Paper's Summer Sketch Challenge.

I seem to have fussy cut the majority of a sheet a Cocoa Vanilla floral paper.  I thought I'd paint myself a background for them to sit on... and then used barely any of them on top as I couldn't bear to cover the painting!! The paints are all from Shimmerz in varying shades of blue with a touch of Miner Miner 49er - which is a fantastic shade of gold - thrown in towards the end. This is take two of the painting as the first try was far too tight.  I loosened up for this attempt so much so that I dropped the paintbrush at one point.  That made for even more looseness as I had to incorporate the extra paint it left where it landed! Embellishing was super simple with three gold thread tangles and some sequins. I have loads of the fussy cut flowers left over so I have started painting another background to work on top of.  Hopefully I'll be able to bear covering more of it up! I don't know about you but I get overwhelmed when ALL of the new collections come out at once.  It's especially bad after Creativation when American Crafts releases what feels like 100 collections at once.  There also seems to be a supply thing and if you don't buy straight away you miss out forever .  I wonder cynically if that is all part of the plan.  Then there is Cocoa Vanilla and Pink Fresh too... mustn't miss out on them either.  This time I decided I would place one order for all things under the AC umbrella.  Lottie Loves Paper is my shop of choice and I had a good browse and made a list.  Then I crossed off most of the things on the list when I realised how many sheets of paper that would be!  I settled on 5th & Monaco (paper pad, ephemera and stickers), Paige Evans (one sheet of the pastel diamonds) and Maggie Holmes (four sheets of paper and the sticker sheet).  I was so excited by 5th & Monaco and yet it has ...

I recently found some old photos of my granma and wow, it felt like finding treasure! For this layout I tried a new way of spreading paint on my page - it's easier for you to watch than me try and explain it! The flowers are part of the Bed Of Roses cut file from Pretty My Page cut on some Jillibean Soup patterned paper.  The leaves were painted with left over paint I had mixed up.  With no pot to put it back in to it was destined for the bin but I just can't bring myself to throw paint away.  I'd much rather doodle something with it and then toss that if it doesn't work out. The butterflies are from Bramble Fox and inspired the colour scheme.  I'm really enjoying working with plum-purple and teals.  I've always been a cheerleader for yellow, especially mustard yellow. Enamel dots were the perfect way to bring a few more touches of teal and green to the page. And I added three copper paperclips.  I would like to have added a bit...

Here are another couple of layouts I made over the NSD weekend. This is a scraplift of Emilie Chamel for Bramble Fox. I adored Emilie's layout as soon as I saw it and love how mine turned out too. Lots of leaves and a Bramble Fox camera. This second layout uses a string of stamped, heat embossed and fusst cut bunting that I made for my Mum's birthday.  She knows me well... when she took it (and her birthday cards) down from the mantle she brought it back for me to scrap with! Seems fitting that I scrap the birthday selfies we took (the day after her birthday because I forgot on the day!) The stamps are from Simon Says and are gorgeous! Shimmerz and sequins to match, butterflies... what's not to like! Thanks for stopping by!

Sharing this layout I made a few weeks back for a challenge in the Pinkfresh facebook group. I've used Pinkfresh stash, enamel dots from my stash and a few paints from Shimmerz. The central 6x6 piece is a flap that lifts up to reveal my journalling. I love these chipboard flair. I had to fight hard to use 6 on one page rather than hoard them!  It's worth it though, I love this design.
