Christmas Cards

I'm pretty sure everyone will have recieved these cards by now so I can go ahead and share...   I fell in love with MFT's bird stamp set which features in all of this years Christmas cards. I've used my polychromos coloured pencils to add some colour to the images. I've nestled some of the birds on thread nests, some on blue 'greenery' stamped directly on the card blank and some on greenery which has been fussy cut and coloured.     And yes, I did say fussy cut.  This stamp set does have a matching die set but I couldn't find it anywhere in the country - or the continent actually, as I checked a few of the European stores too!     This chap has an ink blended background made with Skull and Cross Buns' Floral Pattern stencil and copious amounts of splatter.   These two have multicoloured stamping from a Skull and Cross Buns set .   I trimmed the Merry Christmas apart and used it horizontally rather than stacked.  Don't worry, it doesn't hurt...

Scrapbooking | Scraplifting Missy

I had good fun scraplifting Missy Whidden via Scrap Squad and Scraptember . I used papers from Sticker Kitten plus a couple of vellum die cuts from Cocoa Vanilla Studio and gold puffy stickers from ???  (I have no idea, they were part of a Lottie Loves Paper kit last year.) I adore these little blue tits. I did some hand sewing and whinged about it a LOT! Thanks for stopping by!

StickerKitten on HOCHANDA II

Today I'm sharing the batch of cards I made for StickerKitten's HOCHANDA shows...

sunshine face

This month's Saturday Sketch is one that I've been thinking about for a while... I love the concept of journalling around shapes... I went one step further and used my Silhouette Cameo and sketch pens to do the writing for me. I then pulled all the sunshine coloured pieces from my Cocoa Vanilla stash and grabbed my yellow embellishment box. I threw in a few rub ons, some enamel dots, puffy hearts... There is a great video by Ashley Horton if you want to have a go at adding text to shapes. Here's my process...

Noted

This layout was based on a challenge to use your favourite colour and it's complimentary colour. My favourite colour is green and I had quite a few limey shades.  The opposite is a violet-magenta colour which featured in April's Glittery Hands Box sequin mix. Sadly I am not allowed to play scrabble any more... H-Bird is such a hooligan! Just a few more from my NSD marathon to share now...

NSD Be Cray!

I have been using all my energy on NSD (National Scrapbooking Day) for the last couple of weeks.  Sourcing prizes and sponsors, making graphics and samples, drafting posts and brainstorming.  I'm knackered! Any way, what I mean to say is I have quite a lot of creations I haven't yet shared so get ready for a slew of posts! Today I am on the Glittery Hands Box blog with this layout... Please pop over and hae a look.  While you are there check out the previous post which is also one of my creations... I've loved the first kit of my DT term.  Right now I'm counting down the days to the next box!

Scraplifting Rachel Lowe

It's Scraplift Week at SpiegelMom Scraps .  I am loving this new tradition of lifting our guest designers.  This month Rachel Lowe is guesting and I picked out this fabulous layout of hers... I love the bird, obviously, and that is the section I focused on.  You can watch me creating here: I pulled out the same collection Rachel used, Wildflower from Kaisercraft.  My sequins are a mixture of Birthdays and Balloons and some of my hoarded Glass Slippers. I have guilt... we are nearly five sixths of the way through this little chaps first year and I still don't have even half the layouts as I had for his brother! And it gets worse... I want to keep this layout and not pass it on to him and his lovely Mum! I need a serious scrapathon to get an album completed by his birthday!! You can nab the cut file I created here - if you use it I would love to see what you create.  You can tag me @beadsbuttonsandbirds on Instagram or fin...

Guest Designing for Lottie Loves Paper

I'm over the moon to reveal I am guest designer for Lottie Loves Paper this month.  I am a big champion of UK kit clubs, as you  know, so this was such an easy decision to make! Here is my first process video with a little kit share at the beginning. The kit is lovely and I had ideas right away.  I realise that I miss getting a monthly kit, and also that the way I create has changed again. I started by gathering mixed media in matching colours.  A couple are Mr Huey's and one is a shade I mixed from Liquitex Acrylic inks. Lots of matching thread tangles.  A snippet of lace from Crafty Ribbons. A super cute little bird die cut - I could use thhis over an over!! Thanks for stopping by!

Strawberry Bubblegum

I openly admit I don’t like pink.  I often get sequin mixes with pink in nonetheless, and usually struggle to use them to their best.  I fell in love with the greens in Strawberry Bubblegum and was determined to use the whole mix rather than just picking out the greens! Here is how it went... Pop over to the SpiegelMom Scraps blog for more and the process video

Not a fan of the box...

Ah, bless him!  Poor little Herbie!  This layout tells of the journey home from the breeder and use the first photos I have of Herbie. I've used Pretty Little Studio Summer Vibes collection. Look at his little beak!!  Luckily he won't have to travel in a box again. I added my title on the colourful PLS labels.  I could use these on every layout. The stitching was inspired by my friend Tammy Chernobieff-Goodwin .  She has so much white stitching on her layouts - what made me try it in black I don't know!

Friday Smiles

Apologies for last week - I hadn't meant to be quiet so cryptic!  I was very tired and was sure I had written he was a budgie!! Here he is - I am still to get a very crisp photo... he's a mover!  He is settling in well. Linking up at Friday Smiles !

Friday Smiles

Happy Friday...  I brought this little chap home on Tuesday.  He travelled in a little box, and let's be honest... he wasn't too impressed about it! He has been named Herbie and I will introduce him properly once he is settled.  He is 11 weeks old, still not fully grown and a little shy.  Lots of work to put in over the next couple of months, but I am happy to have him with me.
