Scrapbooking | Hey Little Magpie Cyber Crop

Some times I want to just scrap whatever I fancy, whatever flows out of my fingers with no rules or parametres; other times I love to get stuck in to a challenge.  Recently I've been all about the challenges.   Hey Little Magpie ran a cyber crop over the weekend and I have managed four layouts so far.  I have a few more planned out in my head too, but we'll see if they get made before the deadline... Concord and 9th watering can die paired with Heffy Doodle patterned papers, rainbow photo corners, old stickers and a little bit of subtle embossing with a scoreboard and bone folder.  Percy, my last budgie was nicknamed Sweet Pea and these were 'her' flowers that bloomed after she passed away.  I feel very sentimental and soppy about them, and her, hence the journalling on the front.  I also added journalling on the back. This is the song the big boys sing to their little brother.  It's the lyrics to Party All Night by Sean Kingston altered to fit ne...

Throwback | C is for Cuddle

Another layout rescued from the drafts folder! The apple cut file can be found in my free cut files tab above. I think this is my very favourite shade of green.  Don't tell the other greens that though, I do love them all! Always add the little details, they add so much. Thanks for stopping by!

Stick It Down | Rainbow Again

Here is my take on Stick It Down 's May single page sketch.  As always do check out the Stick It Down site for a double page sketch and a card sketch plus a tonne of inspiration from the design team. I have gone rainbow coloured again.  If there's an option to go rainbow at the moment I definitely will!  I've used a cut file from Pretty My Page.  (If it's not linked then it hasn't been released just yet.)  Perhaps the best part of creating a rainbw layout is the flicking through of stash, whether that is cardstock, embellishments or, in this case, patterned papers.  I wanted to add a couple of tiny word stsickers but they were different shades of black and different fonts.  They just didn't look right together.  Instead, I spelt out the two phrases with tiny tile alphas. Embellishing was kept simple and minimal.  Just a sprinkling of rainbow sequins and a black and white camera sticker. Embellishing so minimally lets...

Scrapbooking | Inspirational Quote

One of my favourite quotes has never seemed more appropriate.  I decided, in true Laura-style, to scrapbook it! The quote is from Vince Lombardi who I admit to knowing nothing about besides the fact that he was an american sports coach. The layout features a range of alpha stickers from sheets that were part used.  I didn't have any E's as they are always the first to be used up so I used a StickerKitten stamp set and a tal ink pad to stamp the E's.   I whizzed a line of stitching through each word to ensure the alphas stayed put. Thanks for stopping by!

Scrapbooking | Bits and Bobs

This layout started with a scrap of paper.  I can't tell who it is made by or how long I've had it.  I can tell you I wish I had more! It's a muted grey, orange, turquoise and mustard stripe with a fab mottled texture.  I paired it with a few enamel frames, puffy alphas and puffy phrase stickers, a mustard and white chevron cardstock frame and enamel dots.  It's a stash layout using old supplies that have not seen the love they deserve. The cardstock frame was chopped in two and slipped behind the photo cluster.  It appears to be a large landscape frame underneath the portrait paper anchoring the whole layout... but we know it's just a small square frame posturing! This was one of those moments where being a silly-shopper-who-buys-every-colour-of-enamel-dot came in handy as I was able to shuffle through my entire collection and pull out perfect colour matches. And that's it - my favourite layout of the moment! Thanks for stopping by

Pretty My Page | I'm Doing A Header!

I'm up on the Pretty My Page blog today.  Check out the blog post here (includes link to the process video and wonderful cut file!) Thanks for stopping by!

Scrapbooking | Rainbow Colours

Man, I love these inks.  I think it's the colour range and the juicy-but-crisp ink formulation.  They are so easy to get perfect impressions with - and I'm not a naturally able stamper! I've paired the inks with a Pink Fresh stamp and die set and colourmatched threads. I swiped the ink pads across the page and added fancy stitching in a tone on tone fashion. I coloured up some Elle's Studio alpha stickers to match and looked through a million sequins to find the right colours! The central flower in the stamped clusters was clling out for a little extra colour so I pulled out my Polychromos pencils.  I also added in a few embellishments from Colour Cast Designs. Thanks for stopping by!

Scrap Squad | number 9

I loved the scraplift that the ladies over at Scrap Squad chose last week (and I managed to lift it and post it in the week it was set!  Woohoo!) My take is much more bold than the original, using up two packets of red and black foam stickers. I hid my title and little one's iniatials in amongst the jumble of letters.  I imagine the chaos of the letters is similar to the chaos of ten three year old at football training!  I added in some footballs too, because the layout was screaming out for football embellishments.  These are homemade/printed as I've never found this sort of thing in any of my scrap shop hangouts! I thought this would be a good clear out of my alpha stickers but it's only two from the bulging box.  I'll need to do another three or four like this to make a proper dent in them.  I'm low on e's and a's so title options are few! Thanks for stopping by!

Throwback | UK Hop

Catching up on a couple of layouts made for YouTube hops last year... First up is a layout made for the UK Scrappy YouTubers Cooperative.  This is a new-ish venture and I hope you'll see more from us all soon. I used a colouring page that I had painted with watercolour as the main feature of the page.  I cut all the flowers and leaves out and layered them behind my photo. The purple piece was a watercolour experiment that turned out too cool to throw away! I mounted the white on a yellow glitter 12x12.  I gutted the middle and used it to cut out some yellow circles.  These circles help to tie the border in with the centre of the layout. I went through quite a few choices before I settled on the yellow... white, grey, sage, a few purples, blues, red and black all failed the test!  Looking back they were all fine but none of them popped like the yellow did. Here's the video: And this one was for World Kindness Day... I pull...

Scrapbooking | It's a Marmite

Whilst I had my Shimelle stash out I wanted to get this story recorded... The silver foiled bug paper was a perfect match.  I layered over some 12x12 vellum so the photo and story could dominate most of the layout.  Papermill Direct have just started doing 12x12 vellum and the quality is excellent.  It was another day for machine sewing too... I chose a fancy stitch this time.  I don't know why I don't use more of the stitch options as they add such character to the page. I went a little crazy for the little word stickers too.  They all seemed to match - curious, wonderer, learn... The story is such a cute one.  My neph insisted on calling the velvet mite in his insect book a marmite. I used every bug themed supply I could and then resorted to butterflies. The enamel butterflies are from Jillibean Soup so not only a different collection but an entirely different manufacturer, but still they colour matched perfectly. Here's t...

Pretty My Page | Munch

I saw this Corn On The Cob file by Paige Evans and knew I had the perfect photo to go with it.  You can purchase the file pre-cut on black, white or cream card here . I coloured my cob with a mix of Shimmerz paints in yellows and greens.  My top tip for colouring cut files is if it starts to look weak and flimsy don’t try to pick it up.  Leave it flat and let it dry naturally and the integrity of the card will firm up again.  If you try and move the card whilst it is sodden with paint the chances are it will tear or rip. I recently went through all of my white cardstock scraps and patch worked together some 12x12 sheets.  I use about 10 different shades and textures of white card so I made sure to mix up the scraps and I have 6 sheets of eclectic card with a tonne of interest and texture which make perfect backgrounds for my simple and minimal scrap style. I used one of the seams on the background as a guide to add my title... I call it ...

Welcome to CUTE!
