Shape Series | Circle Makes

Here's a little update on my circle creations over the last few weeks.  You can read about the concept here . So, the layout I was fired up to create at the beginning of the month, the one based on the sketch I shared, is still unmade.  No matter though, as this was a no pressure, no deadline, playtime kind of project.  I have created a few other things...   This layout uses a folded cut file, which is something I want to explore further throughout the year.  I cut half a shape essentially, just one line, then score between the beginning and end of that line and fold it back.  When you cut a file like this on double-sided patterned paper you end up with both sides showing.  This is both good - because it looks great; and restrictive - because you have to have the right kind of pattern on both sides. (For example a cut-apart sheet on one side would not give the effect I am after.)  Perhaps it was trickier for me as my double-sided paper stash is li...

Scrapbooking | Rainbow Colours

Man, I love these inks.  I think it's the colour range and the juicy-but-crisp ink formulation.  They are so easy to get perfect impressions with - and I'm not a naturally able stamper! I've paired the inks with a Pink Fresh stamp and die set and colourmatched threads. I swiped the ink pads across the page and added fancy stitching in a tone on tone fashion. I coloured up some Elle's Studio alpha stickers to match and looked through a million sequins to find the right colours! The central flower in the stamped clusters was clling out for a little extra colour so I pulled out my Polychromos pencils.  I also added in a few embellishments from Colour Cast Designs. Thanks for stopping by!

Paint

I had so much fun with this one... got as messy with my inks as I could.  We all know inky fingers mean happy heart, right? The cut file was a FTLOPP freebie from Pretty My Page and I cut it on 3 Elle's Studio papers.  I clear gessoed over the top of them and got inky. I used the leftover patterned papers for layering and added a tonne of matte enamel dots.

Welcome to CUTE!

Dinosaur PJS | Camera | Try. Fail. Learn.

Sharing my last batch of layouts... Dinosaur PJs UKSA have a monthly theme of no cardstock, FTLOPP have a monthly theme of stashbustingyour patterned papers.  I've combined both for this layout. The supplies are Elle's Studio and Bella Blvd.  I love the colours and the dinosaur! I waivered mid-way through the layout and nearly switched to white card but I'm glad I stuck it out. Camera This layout again uses no cardstock and lots (for me) of patterned paper.  The prompt was from Stash Busting and was to use white and one other colour. The acrylic cameras are from my vast stash of Color Cast Designs.  I don't use them because they work out expensive after paying handling and shipping. I'm not letting myself think like that this year as it really makes no sense!  (I'm also not letting myself buy things from overseas if they work out costing a guilt inducing amount.) Try. Fail. Learn The exact same story for this lay...

LLP Sketch Challenge

I'm guest designing for Lottie Loves Paper again... there is a brand new and exclusive sketch too! Here is the sketch I drew up... I've used Fancy Pants The Bright Side for my layout. It's a collection I picked up in the Lottie Loves Paper flash sales a while back and I'm really enjoying the colours and patterns. I've added in some tile alphas from Pretty Little Studio and some small Elle's studio alphas.  Of course a Laura layout isn't a Laura layout without some SpiegelMom Scraps sequins! Check in at the Lottie Loves Paper Community Group on Facebook to join in with the challenge - there is a prize up for grabs! Thanks for looking!

A is for apple

I love green! Just sayin'. This layout was made for WW1 Crispy Lettuce green colour scheme. I had fun with my watercolours. As I was just using regular cardstock I added a layer of clear gesso first. I complimented the watercolour with messy green thread and added a few acrylic hearts from Color Cast Designs. A snippet of patterned paper and vellum top and bottom and some sewing with my machine rounds out the layout nicely. There will be a process video to follow in a week or two. Sometimes editing needs to be put to one side and life needs to be lived!
