Big Cousin & Little Smiler

Here is my layout for challenge 2 - Safety In Numbers - at Counterfeit Kit Club. I ummed and aahed for ages over the title, whether to use upper and lower case alphas, whether to leave the middles of the letters in... I tried to use pieces of all the scary patterned papers and then added some sewing with my new old machine... In the end I went all upper case with middles left in! And I added buttons.  That, my friends, is the challenge - use lots of one embellishment.  I chose buttons as my embellishment and I went all out!  Clusters in the middle of the page and rows at the top/side and bottom.  And here it is in it's entirety... Let me know what you think :)

Love Note

When you buy a pack of flair you inevitably get one that you wouldn't have picked if you were buying them singularly.  'Love Note'.  I'm single, I have no one to write love notes to, so how am I going to use it?  Well, I decided to write myself a love note... It's on the black card in the pocket, behind the little cluster of flair and a button.  I got to use some of the washi from my Counterfeit Kit and finally cracked open that black lace tape!  Seriously, I've had it so long I can't remember where or why I bought it.  Operation use-it-up commences!  It's the stuff tucked behind the photo. And a 'hi' paper clip, from the 'Hi May' kit I put together. A sprinkling of buttons - that seems to be a theme this month!  Love my buttons... No title or other visible words on the front of the layout - just 'love note' on the flair and the hidden journalling.  It was a bit odd writing nice things to myself.  Nice odd.  ...

My Girls

Another layout with my Hi May kit for Counterfeit Kit Club.  This one uses two of my forged papers :) I covered the chipboard alphas with some patterned paper. Used up some spotty washi.  Added some layers and a spotty flair. I love this for the white space and the colour - surely those are complete opposites!  But it works for me!

Note Block

I got this note block from The Craft Barn ages ago.  (In fact, I got three and made the other two up pretty much straight away!)  I like the Kraft look and decided to leave it plain and just add some ribbon trim. I've used the Bird ribbon from the Vintage Butterfly range. It will be a gift for someone... ...if I can bring myself to give it away!! :) Thanks for stopping by!

Friday Smile

Take two!  I typed up a Friday Smile post yesterday afternoon but in the evening my Mum showed me the local paper... It's only my picture!!  Mr Sparrowhawk caught some lunch on the shed roof... Amazing creature and such a buzz to be printed :) Thanks for stopping by

The fakes!

I got to work thinking about what kit components I could fake.  In addition to patterned papers I thought I might have a go at making my own paperclips... As always I started with a list and some sketches!  And then gathered the bits I would need.   used the wire from spiral bound note books that were finished.  I found it quite hard to manipulate the wire with out having things to bend it around.  I also found that cut ends needed to be sanded - I learnt that the hard way - ouch! WARNING: After giving myself a manicure I carried on with the paper fakes.  These are the patterned papers in the original kit I thought I could forge the pink ombre chevrons, the big polka dots, the yellow stripes (from the add on) and I was determined to try something with the 'round sided diamond shape' - not really sure what to call that!! I had four wooden 'round sided diamond shapes' which I glued to an acrylic stamp block with temporary adhesi...

WOYWW 257

Hmm... messy messy messy.  What's new?! Well, actually, the sewing machine is new.  Mum picked it up for £8 at a car boot sale.  I can use it on paper without worrying about ruining a good machine. Yep, I spectacularly failed at a panoramic photo. Lots of piles of things to be a-tidied, b-finished or c-put away and I know the desk needs to be completely empty in 10 days time for a craft session with the littlies.  Quite frankly the thought of clearing it completely scares me!!  (So I shall spend the next 9 days procrastinating!!) Thanks for stopping by my desk , I'll see you at yours :) And a big thank you to Julia for hosting us!
