Shake your Tailfeathers!

I've finally been able to bring myself to scrap photos of my sweet Herbie.  I had a couple of feathers from a Just Nick cut file on my desk and I just went for it.  I grabbed The Peacock Strut sequin mix from SpiegelMom Scraps and my watercolour palette. I like to use vellum for shaker pockets as it nice and firm but this time I wanted something very flexible.  I used some flimsy packaging - you do need the right kind of plastic though, as some don't get on with sewing machines!  Once I had my shaker made I marked on the background where my elements would go. I then added some pale watercolour washes beneath where they would lie so it would just peep out from behind.  To finish the layout I journalled around the edge - simple but elegant - rather like my Herb!! Thanks for looking!

A is for apple

I love green! Just sayin'. This layout was made for WW1 Crispy Lettuce green colour scheme. I had fun with my watercolours. As I was just using regular cardstock I added a layer of clear gesso first. I complimented the watercolour with messy green thread and added a few acrylic hearts from Color Cast Designs. A snippet of patterned paper and vellum top and bottom and some sewing with my machine rounds out the layout nicely. There will be a process video to follow in a week or two. Sometimes editing needs to be put to one side and life needs to be lived!

I love to scrap with no idea of what is going to happen... no themes, no sketch, no image in my minds eye. Because sometimes something like this happens! I love the vellum backed cloud top. I didn't enjoy sewing it but I'm glad I did, the texture is great. Supplies are from Jillibean Soup Shades of Colour, along with some sparkly sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps. You can't beat some good colour mixed with white cardstock and sparkles! Here's the vid!

Scraplifting Melissa Vining

Melissa is one of the guest designers with SpiegelMom Scraps this month and I was assigned to scraplift her.  As usual, the picking which layout to scrap took the longest time! My creation is based on this layout from Melissa: I made my own patterned paper on the silhouette cameo as I could choose words relating to my photo.  I used some mists and the packaging technique to add some colour. I looked through my embellishments and picked anything that was the right colour.  The colour palette was dictated by Henley's feathers. For my sequins, I chose Sparkle Ever After because I'm still obsessed with the polka dots! Here's the video... Thanks for looking!

Pretty Little Studio

I am super excited to be amongst the squad guest designers Pretty Little Studio have lined up for the spring/summer.  I'm taking part in a freebie Instahop today - you can find the details here and the freebie here . This month's freebie is by Claudia Van R and is beautifully pastel and dreamy. I added some sequins and enamel dots, and a whole bunch of sewing. The great thing about printables is you can pick and choose what you want.  I printed a load of the triangles in a few different sizes and was able to create something I wouldn't have been able to with a pack of ephemera.  The downside is my printer is rather naff!  I would love a better printer so suggestions for makes and models greatly appreciated! Thanks for stopping by!

Ah, Cocoa Vanilla... my first love! Most of the supplies used on this layout are from their newest collection with a fwe oldies thrown in for good measure! Lots of mixed media and sewing too.  I've mainly used Shimmerz products in the background but it was a case of matching colours rather than matching brands. The alphas were deep in my stash, I can't remember where from, but they are the perfect match. Thanks for looking!

A couple of cards...

I've been playing around with this month's Stick It Down card sketch... As I was trimming down the first card from A6 to square I realised I could also make a tiny card with the offcut... Supplies are from Jillibean Soup and SpiegelMom Scraps. The diddy card is made from one sticker and adapts the sketch to 5 sections. I covered the focal point of the larger card with crackle accents.  It's the first time I have used it - certainly won't be the last! Thanks for looking!
